He 's a shadow of the man he was
Broken shell of his former self
Drinking whiskey in a stinking bar,
thinking nothing, mouthing no word
Just an image of a brilliant lad
A resemblance of a charming boy
There was really a time not long ago
that were this gaze resides lived a spark
People talk, but they know him not
They make tales about his past
to justify their own misery
For they dwell in the same den
One man stands out as much as him
Lone in the corner drinking beer
minding his own, or is he not?
Surely he takes the occasional peek
He 's noticed him, but he don't mind
He 's been dead long before
that man stepped through the wooden door
He 's just a ghost in a decaying world.
